Field Notes & Logistics Questions from the Watchtower
Practical details for visitors, cartographers, and first-time stargazers exploring the world of Kitio Harbor.
What platforms will Kitio Harbor be available on?
Kitio Harbor launches on Steam for Windows and macOS, with a Nintendo Switch version scheduled to follow roughly three months after the initial release. We are also investigating a native Linux build, but we will only commit to that port once the core game is feature-complete and stable.
Does Kitio Harbor require an internet connection or an account?
No. The game is a single-player, offline experience from start to finish. You do not need an account, a launcher login, or an online connection to play. The only internet-dependent features are optional cloud saves and access to developer diary updates from the main menu.
How does room-folding actually work in gameplay?
You manipulate the observatory by rotating and folding individual chambers along their architectural axes, which repositions doorways, redirects beams of starlight, and exposes hidden corridors. The mechanical twist is that light paths are preserved in real time, so a fold that solves one puzzle may permanently alter an earlier route unless you plan your sequence carefully.
Is there a combat system, or is the game purely about puzzles?
There is no combat. Tension comes from environmental pressure, structural instability, and the slow collapse of the observatory's older wings. Your primary tools are the folding mechanism, a handheld prism for rerouting light, and the ability to reconstruct fractured murals that reveal the building's history.
How long is a typical playthrough?
A focused playthrough takes roughly eight to ten hours, while completists who restore every mural, log every stellar anomaly, and unlock all three endings should expect closer to fourteen. There is no procedural padding; every chamber is hand-placed and every light route is intentionally designed.
Will there be a demo or a beta before release?
Yes. A free prologue demo containing the first three chambers of the observatory will be available during the next Steam Next Fest. Closed beta keys will also be distributed to newsletter subscribers and players who participate in the upcoming community cartography event.
